It's freezing cold here. Lashing down with rain. And we've just had a power cut.
I'm sitting in the darkness and using the last 10 minutes of my laptop battery before that, too, dies.
Five reasons I don't like Sardinia all the time are as follows:
- Most houses don't have central heating so now that my power has gone, my electric heater doesn't even work. I've got two thermal long sleeve vests on, one sweatshirt and one fleece and am still cold.
- High speed internet doesn't arrive everywhere in Sardinia. Even the 'zona industriale' of some of the cities have to make do with dial up. It's bearable when you're working from home. Downright frustrating when you have an office to run.
- Sardinians are inward-looking and resistant to change, yet moan about the lack of opportunities on the island. They want the opportunities without the change.
- Everything happens v.e.r.y.s.l.o.w.l.y. Things get done at the pace people want them to get done at and you can't change that. But that also effects the way you work. You can't give someone a reply until you have the reply from another person. So Person A thinks you're inefficient while Person B thinks you need to slow down and are working too fast.
- Everything closes down out of season. Summer might last six months of the year, but so does winter. You can't just take off for the weekend because most hotels will be closed. Of, if they are open, the shops will be shut.
I'll correct all typos, links etc once I have power again. But my battery now has five minutes left.

Hi, my name is Kate. I've read your opinion about Sardinia and I also have to say that although Sardinia is a beautiful island, you're right about most of the things. I live and work here in Sardinia and often I face the same issues and I struggle too - it's not easy. What's your nationality? Which part of Sardinia (which city) do you live in? Best Regards, Kate

Hi, my name is Anthea. I too share your opinions about Sardinia. I live here, in a small town called Tonara. I am married, and I have a 16month old baby boy. I am really struggling with the cultural differences. And I am often so lonely because I find it very difficult to make friends here. I too struggle with the same issues and more, so much more.

Hi Kate - I'm based in Olbia these days though I've lived around the Olbia.
I'm British. What about you? Where are you from, where do you live and what do you do in Sardinia?
Hi Anthea - I hope you're doing better these days. My best advice is to relax into it and also focus on all those positive points of Sardinia since you can't change the negatives. If you fancy to coming to Olbia, let me know - it's only about 2 hours away by car.
