Our Philosophy at HowToItaly

We’re not cats.  We don’t have nine lives.  Just the one.
And we believe we should make the most of it.

If you’re the outdoor type, why waste your life on the office treadmill?  If you prefer to be by the beach, why live in the city? And if you dream of the Italian dolce vita, what’s stopping you from living your dream life in Italy?

What our values are:

Passion
We’re passionate about life. Passionate about people. And passionate about you. We’ll do everything we can to help you live a life you love in Italy.

Listening
We listen. Carefully. We listen to what you’ve done. What you are doing. And what you want to be doing in Italy in the future. Because we listen we help you come up with a custom-fit job. What that is depends on you. It may be teaching English. Running a B&B. Utilising your MBA. Or creating a whole new portable career.

Inspiration
We like being inspired and inspiring others. We’re inspired by achievers. Ordinary people doing the extraordinary. Thoughtful people. And people who have the guts to carve out a new life in Italy. Inspire us and make our day.

Fun
We’re serious about what we do: helping you live a life you love in Italy. But we’re serious about having fun, too. Because if you’re having fun, you’re happy. To us, a happy, fun workplace is a productive, inspiring workplace. That’s why our meetings often take place in the sunshine. At the beach. In a coastal bar. Or simply as we’re walking through stunning countryside in Sardinia. Oh, and by the way, we never work on our birthdays. Not ever. Birthdays are for enjoying not working.

Knowledge
We’re always buying books. Reading newspapers and magazines. And doing courses. It means we’re clued up on living and working in Italy. So we can pass that knowledge onto you.

Caring
We’re people people. We don’t take on jobs, we take on you. We love meeting new people and nurturing the relationship. It’s no coincidence that many of our clients have gone on to become business partners, colleagues and friends. We like to surprise you and believe in random acts of kindness. We’d love to tell you what they are but then they wouldn’t be random, would they? You never know, you may be next.

Authenticity
We’re not fake. We don’t have insincere smiles on our face and we don’t leave our personality at the office door. We’re individuals. And we love our work.

Honesty
We pride ourselves on our honesty. We’re not about making a quick Euro in return for providing a shoddy service. If we can help, we will. If we can’t, we won’t. We’d rather give away business to the person who can help.

Sunshine
Sunny days are always better than dull days. They make you feel alive. But when it’s cold and rainy, we aim to bring a bit of sunshine into your life anyway. We’re always around for a virtual pizza and if you’re ever in Sardinia or we’re in your part of the world, then we’re around for a real one, too. Yum.

Ethics
We rather like the world we live in. So we try to do our bit to help. Once it’s built, our home/office will be as eco-friendly as possible. And soon we’ll be announcing our own little scheme to give back to Italy what Italy has given to us.
